Compatibility with corepack
This corepack is a perfect autopilot solution for single-engine outboard boats less than 7.6 m (25') long1. It is not necessary to manually hold the rudder to maintain the course, especially when sailing at moderate or high speeds2.
Ahrs of 9-AXIS solid state
The advanced 9-axis solid-state AHRS system allows you to install the Reactor 40 unit in virtually anywhere and orientation. It even reduces energy consumption, minimizes course errors and much more.
Ability to react to water conditions
Keep the course at sea: this autopilot reacts to the conditions, so you can maintain peace of mind even when nooing or rocking movements occur.
Simple calibration and installation
All automatic pilots require a commissioning and calibration process. Reactor 40 makes it quick and easy. This autopilot is easy to install with flexible mounting options.
Wireless remote functions
Control the autopilot from anywhere on the boat using your compatible Garmin devices, including the Reactor autopilot remote control, certain quatix® nautical watches and many more (requires a compatible Garmin plotter or a GHC 50 autopilot instrument).
Shadow drive™ technology
Maneuver the boat with greater freedom. This corepack allows the optional Shadow Drive technology to automatically disable the autopilot when turning the rudder.
Ghc 50 optional pack
Combine the Reactor 40 autopilot with the GHC 50 autopilot instrument to add a specific autopilot touch screen to the control bridge. In addition, GHC 50 allows you to share data and settings with Garmin multifunction displays and other Garmin devices installed.
Functions for sailing and motor boats
When connected to a compatible Garmin plotter, all Reactor 40 corepacks offer functions for sailing and motor boats, such as heading and wind control, step turns and turning/transfer maneuvers when paired with a wind sensor (sold separately). You can even enjoy other advantages, such as the route tracking and Auto Guidance+™3 functions.

How can the Shadow Drive sensor be mounted for dual-helm systems?
In a dual-helm installation, install the Shadow Drive sensor between the pump and the hydraulic T-connector that leads to the helms, closer to the T-connector than the pump.
Are pump hydraulic port types specified?
Yes, all three hydraulic ports on the pump are 1/4 in. NPT. Use appropriate T-connectors and shut-off valves for installation.
What safety equipment is needed during installation?
Always wear safety goggles, ear protection, and a dust mask when drilling, cutting, or sanding during the installation.
What should be done before drilling or cutting during installation?
Always check the opposite surface before drilling or cutting to avoid damaging the vessel.
Where should the alarm be installed on the boat?
Mount the alarm near the primary helm station or under the dashboard; wires can be extended with 28 AWG (0.08 mm²) wire.
Are mounting screws included with the ECU?
Mounting screws are included with the ECU, but if they are unsuitable for your mounting surface, you must provide appropriate screws.
How do I connect the system to the NMEA 2000 network?
Both the helm control (or compatible Garmin chartplotter) and the CCU must connect to the NMEA 2000 network using T-connectors.
Who should install the Compact Reactor 40 autopilot system?
The autopilot system should be installed by a qualified marine installer with knowledge of marine steering and electrical systems.
