FAQs

Why might I use a thru-hull pair for installation?

A thru-hull pair is recommended when mounting a SideVü transducer where hull deadrise exceeds 5 degrees.

What care should be taken when installing the transducer?

Carefully follow the included installation instructions to avoid boat damage during the installation process.

What installation complexity should I expect with thru-hull transducers?

Thru-hull installations are more complex, requiring a hole to be drilled through the hull, which increases installation difficulty.

What should I do if I experience difficulty during installation?

Contact Garmin Product Support or seek the advice of a professional installer if you have installation difficulties.

How does a flush thru-hull transducer differ in mounting requirements?

Flush thru-hull transducers sit flush or nearly flush with the hull and are recommended for smaller boats with minimal deadrise.

Why is mounting location important for thru-hull transducers?

Correct placement avoids interference with hull features and ensures the active face is unobstructed for optimal signal return.

Are there different styles of thru-hull transducers?

Thru-hull transducers are available in flush and external styles, suiting different types of boats and requirements.

Where should a thru-hull transducer be mounted relative to propellers?

It should be mounted in clean water forward of propellers and running gear to enhance signal return.

Should I use a fairing block with this transducer?

External thru-hull transducers usually require a fairing to keep the sonar beam vertical for best results.

Are there provisions for temperature sensing with this transducer?

Some transducers contain a fast response water temperature sensor, as indicated for related models in the selection guide.
