FAQs
What sealant is recommended during installation?
The tool list specifies marine sealant and notes: “Use only 3M 4200”.
What is the maximum tightening force for the retaining bolts?
Do not exceed 3Nm on each bolt. The installation steps also say to re-tighten each retaining bolt to “force less than 3Nm” after sealant cures.
How far below the waterline should the light be installed?
Install the light 6”–10” (150–250mm) below the minimum load water line.
Are there mounting surface/location restrictions for the light?
Yes. Install on a flat (not curved) surface, and mount on the transom or side hull only.
How long is the pre-installed light cable, and can it be cut?
Each light is supplied with a 3m (10ft) cable with a pre-installed connector, and the instructions say: “Do Not Cut”. Use preterminated extension cables if needed.
What spacing is recommended between multiple lights for best results?
For best results, install the lights between 2.5ft (0.8m) and 6.5ft (2m) apart.
Should the light be bonded to the DC system, and when should it NOT be bonded?
Normally, bond to the vessel’s DC bonding system for galvanic protection. If installing with an isolation sleeve kit (wood, metal or carbon fibre hull), do NOT bond the lights.
Can I install or remove the light while the vessel is in the water?
No. The guide says never try to install or remove the light with the vessel in the water.
Where should the SUPRA i-Connect Hub be mounted?
Mount the SUPRA i-Connect Hub in a dry, well ventilated location.
What water ingress protection rating is listed for the TIX1604?
The datasheet lists the water ingress protection rating as IP68.
How should the underwater lights be cleaned and what should be avoided?
Use a soft cloth or soft bristled brush. Do not use abrasive cloth/agents, and do not clean with pressure washing or sandblasting equipment.
