After marking and drilling the holes, install fasteners in all six holes to secure the restrainer to the mast.
How does the restrainer affect the halyard swivel position?
With a restrainer installed, the halyard swivel will ride lower than installations without restrainers to achieve correct halyard angle.
How do you ensure the restrainer is oriented correctly?
Install so 'HARKEN' is up and the forward side is parallel to the headstay; do not install upside down.
What should be considered when drilling mounting holes?
Limit drill depth to avoid snagging halyards and ensure fasteners don't protrude into the mast.
When should a halyard restrainer be used?
A halyard restrainer should be used if the angle between the halyard and headstay is less than 7°, which is common when the halyard sheave is very close to the headstay.
How do you position the restrainer on the mast?
Position the restrainer so the halyard is at a 7 to 10° angle to the headstay. If necessary, have a sailmaker cut down the top of the sail to achieve this angle.
Should grease be applied to the restrainer?
Do not use grease on Harken equipment unless specifically recommended in the instruction sheets.

The estimated time until you receive your order is the preparation time plus the carrier transit time.
Order preparation: check the dispatch estimate on the product page. This is the time needed before your order is handed over to the carrier.
Standard shipping — estimated transit after dispatch:
• European Union and United Kingdom: 2–4 business days.
• United States: 3–6 business days.
• Other destinations: 3–7 business days.
Express shipping: where available for your address, you can select it at checkout. Transit estimates depend on the destination and service offered. Express applies to transport only and does not shorten preparation time.
