GNX Wind Instrument

GNX Wind provides the wind data necessary to make decisions with determination. GNX Wind includes a high-visibility vitrified monochrome LCD screen with customizable backlight colors, and connects through the NMEA 2000 network to display 2 data fields and a digital wind rose simultaneously in order to offer real and apparent wind data, indications about the direction, the speed of the boat and much more. Low energy consumption of 350 mW during the day (without backlight) and 400 mW at night (with a medium level of backlight), ideal for sailing boats. The customizable user settings allow you to configure the layout of the screen as you like. The screen settings include more than 15 important nautical parameters on wind, speed and navigation. The GNX Wind connects wirelessly with the gWind Wireless 2, as well as with the nautical smartwatch quatix® 3 GPS through ANT® technology to transmit wind data directly to your wrist.

gWind Wireless 2 Transducer

gWind Wireless 2 offers an easy-to-install solution that eliminates cables that pass through masts up to 15 meters. Wind signals are sent accurately and wirelessly through an ANT connection directly to a GNX Wind instrument or a compatible Garmin GPSMAP® plotter. The transducer includes its famous Nexus double-fin technology with a 3-blade propeller, which provides precise wind speed and a stable wind angle in mild wind conditions.

GNX 20 Nautical Instrument

The easy-to-read screen of the GNX 20 uses black digits on a white or colored background to clearly display information related to more than 50 navigation parameters, in addition to data on the depth of the water, the speed of the boat through the water or the water temperature through the NMEA 2000 network. The customizable user configuration allows you to choose from 5 screen configurations available for sailboat or motorboat user profiles: single, double and triple display functions, in addition to graph and indicator mode to display information related to wind, depth and speed. You can also customize the pages so that nautical information is displayed and related to the boat that interests you most. Its vitrified screen with anti-reflective coating provides excellent readability for both day and night, as well as high-contrast digits that can be enlarged up to 36 mm. Daytime use at 350 mW only consumes 25 mA, so it does not need backlight. During the night, it only requires 400 mW and a medium level of backlight.

GDT 43 and GST 43 transducers with 43 mm fittings

If you already have 43 mm fittings for your helmet transducers, it is not necessary to drill new holes. The pack includes 43 mm helmet transducers, which can improve boats that have Nexus TH43 transducers. The GST 43 is a temperature and speed transducer, and the GDT 43 is a depth transducer. Each transducer is supplied with an adapter that allows data to be shared through the NMEA 2000 network with a compatible Garmin plotter or instrument display.

Use the provided template to cut a 90mm (3.5in.) hole or use a rotary tool, drill pilot holes, and seal with the gasket and marine sealant.

What is the mounting template process for installing the display?

Trim and stick the flush-mount template at the location, then cut the dashboard using the template as a guide before mounting.

How is the instrument powered and connected to data sources?

It connects to power and data through a NMEA 2000 network using included NMEA 2000 cables and connectors.

What care is needed when mounting in fiberglass?

Use a countersink bit to drill only the top gel-coat layer to avoid cracking; apply anti-seize lubricant on screws.

Where should the device be mounted for optimal performance?

Mount in a location at or below eye level, not exposed to extreme temperatures, and away from compass interference per the compass-safe distance.

What should you do to prevent corrosion on connectors?

Cover unused connectors with the provided weather caps to prevent corrosion of the metal contacts.

How much viewing angle is allowed for the GNX 20 and GNX 21 displays?

No more than 45° for GNX 20 and 50° for GNX 21; otherwise color inversion can occur beyond certain angles.
