Description

Designed for reduced drag and optimum sonar performance on fishing and cruising boats, this flush-mounted 1 kW midband CHIRP (80–165 kHz) transducer clearly defines fish arches, structure and bottom depth returns on your display.

Midband CHIRP traditional sonar

This 8-pin 1 kW stainless steel thru-hull transducer features high-definition midband CHIRP sonar that clearly defines fish targets and structure down to 1,800’ in saltwater and 2,400’ in freshwater.

Broad frequency range

Use the perfect frequency for the waters you’re fishing. Covering the medium frequency range, this transducer pulses from 80–165 kHz, displaying a wide coverage area, clear fish arches and accurate depth readings.

Optimum ping sensitivity

Offering excellent sonar sensitivity, low noise, high resolution and good separation of targets, this robust transducer makes it easier than ever to distinguish fish and structure on your compatible chartplotter display.

THRU-HULL Installation

A durable stainless steel housing and stem offer straightforward thru-hull flush mounting for minimum drag and optimum beam orientation for clear sonar returns.

AUTO-ID Technology
Enjoy simple plug-and-play operation with Garmin auto-identification technology — which enables the sonar to automatically configure itself to the transducer being used.
Fits various hull types

Configurable for a wide variety of boat hull materials, including fiberglass, composite, steel, aluminum and wood, the transducer is available in a range of tilt versions to accommodate deadrise angles of 0-24 degrees without a fairing block.

FAQs

What type of sealant should be used for installation?

A flexible, fast-cure marine sealant suitable for below the waterline is recommended.

Are there specific requirements for metal hull installations?

Yes, galvanic isolation components must be used to avoid corrosion in aluminum or steel hulls.

What maintenance does the transducer require?

Remove aquatic fouling with a soft cloth and mild detergent. For severe fouling, use a non-metallic scouring pad or putty knife and always wipe the transducer dry.

When should you update your chartplotter’s software after installation?

You must update the Garmin chartplotter software after installation as described in the owner's manual.

How should the transducer be oriented during installation?

If the transducer has an internal angle, the arrow on the top cap must point to the keel to offset the deadrise angle.

Can this transducer be installed near the engine?

No, it should not be installed near the engine or in the engine room to prevent interference and overheating damage.

What is the optimal mounting location regarding turbulence?

Mount in clean (non-turbulent) water, away from strakes, struts, or anything that creates bubbles.

How do you secure the transducer when mounting?

Use a 108 mm wrench to tighten the jam nut from inside the hull and ensure the arrow (on angled models) points to the keel to offset the deadrise angle.

How should the transducer cable be routed?

Route the cable away from other wiring and engines, protect with grommets when passing through bulkheads, and secure with suitable fasteners.

How should the cable be protected when passing through bulkheads?

Use grommets to protect the cable if it passes through bulkheads or other boat parts.

Should the transducer be operated out of the water?

No, always operate the transducer when submerged to avoid overheating damage.
