It brings our Reactor 40 cable steering system technology to boats with Volvo Penta intraboard power systems (IPS) and mixed engine joystick systems. Garmin provides advanced nautical technology for users in the field of navigation previously available only for commercial boats in a complete package designed for sailing and motor boats. The Reactor 40 series of autopilots provides the most responsive autopilot system we have offered so far.
Reactor 40 automatic pilots are very versatile. In the corepack, functions are offered for sailing and motor navigation, including course control, wind control, turn/trash, step turns and many more. You just have to select the autopilot compatible with your boat's steering system.
9-axis solid-state AHRS technology
The advanced 9-axis solid-state AHRS system allows you to install the Reactor 40 unit in virtually anywhere and orientation. In addition, this new system significantly reduces course errors, route deviation, rudder movement and energy consumption, while offering a comfortable trip for all passengers.
Ability to react to sea conditions
In fact, this excellent autopilot responds to the state of the sea to stay the course. Even when pitching and swinging movements occur, the Reactor 40 autopilot guarantees that you maintain the desired course.
Simple commissioning and calibration
All autopilots, without exception, require a commissioning and calibration process. We know that what you want is to get into the water, that's why we have streamlined and simplified this process as much as possible. That's what the concept "The Power of Simple" consists of.
Full integration with Garmin plotters
When combined with a compatible Garmin plotter connected to the network, you can have full control over the Reactor 40 unit from anywhere on the boat. The system is capable of maintaining the course in practically all types of weather and wind conditions, as well as carrying out a series of pre-programmed procedures for fishing for fishing and searching in a fluid way. In addition, with a network-connected compatible Garmin plotter and the optional BlueChart g3 Vision charts (sold separately), you will get industry-leading coverage, clarity and level of detail, with updated coastal charts that include integrated content from Garmin and Navionics®.

Can the Dockside Wizard be run with the boat out of the water?
Yes, but provide rudder-movement clearance to avoid damage if the boat is out of the water.
How to calibrate the compass during setup?
Calibration can be done via Sea Trial Wizard or manually. Keep the boat steady and flat, and balance vessel weight during calibration.
How are gain values set and adjusted?
Gain values are set by the Autotune procedure. Manual adjustment is possible but not typically recommended. Record values before changing.
How do you test correct steering direction during configuration?
Use autopilot controls to check if the rudder turns the boat left or right as commanded, and correct direction if necessary.
