Marine sealant is optional. It can be used to fill any remaining gaps in the cable slot when mounting on a pole, or to seal cable holes where needed.
How can I test the mounting location before permanent installation?
Temporarily secure the antenna and ensure proper operation. Move and retest as needed to avoid interference or signal loss.
What maintenance does the outer casing require?
Clean with a cloth dampened with mild detergent; avoid chemical cleaners or solvents to prevent damage.
How should the cable be routed during installation?
Route the cable away from sources of electronic interference, such as engines and power lines, for best performance.
What type of pole can be used for pole mounting the GPS 24xd HVS?
A standard 1 in. OD, 14 threads per inch, pipe-threaded pole (not included) is required for pole mounting.
How can I limit the antenna's output update rate to 1 Hz?
Solder the included Update Rate Select (resistor) cable to the orange Accessory on wire. The antenna will then output at 1 Hz.
Where should the antenna be mounted for best GPS performance?
Choose a location with a clear, unobstructed sky view, away from superstructure, radome, the mast, engines, EMI, and ferrous metals.
How is basic heading calibration performed?
After connecting the display, perform two slow, tight circles at least 6.4 km/h in calm water, and then align heading as needed.
How should the antenna be mounted with regard to radar and VHF antennas?
Don't mount within 1 meter of a VHF radio antenna or in the radar's path; best above the radar path, never shaded by superstructure.
How do I disable magnetic heading data?
Drive the boat in two slow, tight circles after power cycling; remain stationary for 2 minutes to trigger heading disable sequence.
How should the outer casing of the GPS 24xd HVS be cleaned?
Clean the casing with a cloth dampened by mild detergent solution. Avoid chemical cleaners and solvents to protect plastic components.
