These rugged 4-foot and 6-foot open antenna radars, which combine high-definition images with Garmin's latest platform technology, offer superior detection of weather conditions, obstacles and traffic for navigators fishing or sailing on the high seas.
New exploration media technology
The scanning average, a first in Garmin radars, helps reduce the sea filter and interference to improve the detection and visualization of consistent targets.
Angular adjustment of the size of the lens
The expanded pulse and angular processing techniques of the size of the lens optimize the shapes of the objects on the screen to improve interpretation on all range scales.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE Antennas
The open antennas with wind rating of 100 knots1 have rotation speeds of 24 and 48 RPM to increase the delay speed, with a maximum range of up to 96 nautical miles in the 25 kW versions (up to 72 nautical miles in the 4 and 12 kW versions).
Real echo FOLLOW-UPS
The screen shows a historical "traw" of the navigation of the boats, which eliminates the influence of relative movement to help you quickly identify moving targets and possible collision threats.
Dual scale with radar overlay
The simple radar antenna has the ability to provide split-screen images on your compatible plotter in parallel, with independent controls and range settings for both short and long range. You can superimpose one or both scopes on a card.
Dynamic automatic gain
The gain levels are automatically adjusted to the optimal configuration for ports, areas near the coast and the high seas.

What precautions should be taken when drilling or cutting during installation?
Always check the opposite side before drilling or cutting to avoid damaging the vessel.
How should the radar be grounded?
Connect a 3.31 mm² (12 AWG) copper wire from the ground connector on the pedestal to a water ground location, and apply marine sealant to connections.
How should the radar be wired for power?
Route the power cable to the radar and connect it to the battery, ensuring the in-line fuse is not removed, and use crimp connectors and heat-shrink.
How should I secure the radar during mounting?
Tighten hex nuts on the threaded rods to a torque of 14.7 N-m (11 lbf-ft.) to securely fasten the radar to the surface.
What wire gauge is needed for power cable extensions?
For up to 3m use 12 AWG; 5m requires 10 AWG; 6.5m needs 9 AWG; and 8m uses 8 AWG. Use crimp connectors and heat-shrink for water resistance.
What is the minimum safe distance from people when mounting the radar?
Mount the radar so the vertical beam width is above head height; do not mount closer to people than the minimum safe distance in the specifications.
Should I seal cable holes made for wiring?
Yes. Apply marine sealant to holes and cable grommets after cables are routed to ensure a waterproof seal.
What kind of grounding is required for the radar?
Use a 3.31 mm² (12 AWG) copper wire to a water ground location for both the radar and voltage converter if present. Do not ground to the battery negative.
What sealing guidance is given for cable routing holes?
After routing cables, apply marine sealant to cable pass-through holes to ensure a waterproof seal. Decorative grommets do not provide a seal by themselves.
Can existing radar voltage converters be reused?
No. Only use the voltage converter included with the radar or an official Garmin converter matching your model.
Are special guidelines given for wiring near other equipment?
Avoid running network and power cables parallel to other cables like radio antenna lines to prevent interference. If unavoidable, shield cables with metal conduit or EMI shielding.
Can the radar be mounted near electronic devices or radios?
It should be mounted more than 2 m (6.5 ft.) from other electronics and 1 m (40 in.) from transmitting equipment or radio signal cables.
