Overview
SmartFlex Dual-Chamber Diesel Fuel Flow Meter The SmartFlex ™ dual-chamber flow meters are designed for fuel consumption measurement of diesel engine systems with flow rates up to 600 L/h. The flow meter measures fuel consumption in each line and computes the difference between supply and return. SmartFlex DFMs output NMEA2000 ® to a T1 or T2 SmartBoat ® or SmartFlex Module*, for display on multi-function displays or Signal K interfaces. Differential measurement of fuel consumption SmartFlex dual-chamber DFMs have two measuring chambers for supply and return fuel lines. The flow meter measures fuel consumption in each line and computes the difference between supply and return. Built-in battery In case of the absence of an external power source, from the on-board network for example, the SmartFlex DFM keeps registering data to the internal memory. When external power is restored, all accumulated data will be transferred to the on-board monitoring terminal. *SmartFlex DFM must be connected to a SmartBoat or SmartFlex T1 or T2 module. DFM models provide data for fuel consumption including: Instant fuel consumption, L/H Hourly fuel consumption in “Forward” line Hourly fuel consumption in “Return” line Total fuel consumption, L Total fuel consumption in “Idling” mode of engine operation Total fuel consumption in “Optimal” mode of engine operation Total fuel consumption in “Overload” mode of engine operation Total fuel consumption in “Negative” mode of flow meter operation (return exceeds supply)

Are there installation orientation constraints for the DFM-600-DA?
Follow the provided mounting position diagrams to ensure proper orientation. Device can be inclined up to 30 degrees (fuel output up).
Can Teflon tape be used on fittings during installation?
No, only liquid pipe sealant should be used; do not use Teflon tape.
Do I need to bleed the fuel system after installation?
Yes, to ensure proper operation all air must be bled from the fuel system prior to operation.
What is recommended to facilitate maintenance of the fuel sensor?
A fuel line bypass with gate valve is recommended to allow sensor removal without disrupting engine operation.
What system compatibility requirements does the DFM-600-DA have?
The DFM-600-DA requires connection to an AIRMAR SmartBoat Module (ASM) and cannot connect directly to a NMEA 2000 backbone or display.
What connectors are used for wiring the DFM-600-DA?
The DFM comes equipped with an M12 Device Net connector for quick and easy connection.
What is the required supply voltage for the DFM-600-DA?
The required supply voltage is 10 – 16 VDC.
