Compatibility with corepack

The compact and brushless SmartPump pump of this corepack adapts to most sailing and motor boats with a hydraulic steering navigation system. Requires a compatible Garmin plotter or a GHC autopilot instrument.

Smartpump V2

SmartPump v2 is an adaptable size solution that provides optimal control and confidence in water. In addition, it offers better thermal performance, greater reliability and lower energy consumption.

Ahrs of 9-AXIS solid state

The advanced 9-axis solid-state AHRS system allows you to install the Reactor 40 unit in virtually anywhere and orientation. It even reduces energy consumption, minimizes course errors and much more.

Ability to react to water conditions

Keep the course at sea: this autopilot reacts to the conditions, so you can maintain peace of mind even when nooing or rocking movements occur.

Simple calibration

All automatic pilots require a commissioning and calibration process. Reactor 40 makes it quick and easy.

Shadow drive™ technology

Maneuver the boat with greater freedom. This corepack allows the optional Shadow Drive technology to automatically disable the autopilot when turning the rudder.

Wireless remote functions

Control the autopilot from anywhere on the boat using your compatible Garmin devices, including the Reactor autopilot remote control, certain quatix® nautical watches and many more (requires a compatible Garmin plotter or a GHC 50 autopilot instrument).

Ghc 50 optional pack

Combine the reactor 40 corepack with the GHC 50 autopilot instrument to add a specific touch screen for the autopilot to the control bridge. In addition, GHC 50 allows you to share data and settings with Garmin multifunction displays and other Garmin devices installed.

Functions for sailing and motor boats

When connected to a compatible Garmin plotter, all Reactor 40 corepacks offer functions for sailing and motor boats, such as heading and wind control, step turns and turning/transfer maneuvers when paired with a wind sensor (sold separately). You will even be able to enjoy other advantages, such as route tracking and Auto Guidance+™1 functions.

Who should install the Reactor 40 Hydraulic Autopilot system?

The autopilot should be installed by a qualified marine installer with specific knowledge of marine steering and electrical systems.

What precautions should you take when calibrating the rudder sensor?

If a calibration error appears, the rudder feedback sensor may not be installed correctly. If issues persist, move the rudder only within positions that do not trigger errors.

How do you select the speed source for the autopilot?

You can use NMEA 2000-compatible engine, tachometer, GPS, or none. Garmin recommends a GPS antenna for reliable speed data.

How do you test steering direction during Dockside Wizard?

With the boat stationary or at low speed, select left or right. If the direction is incorrect, select 'Switch Direction' and repeat.

How should you test the autopilot configuration after setup?

Engage the autopilot at slow, then higher speeds. The boat should turn smoothly and hold course with minimal oscillation or overshoot.

How can you adjust heading accuracy without a GPS source?

Adjust the fine heading on the autopilot until it matches a trusted ship or handheld compass, then save the setting.

Can the Dockside Wizard be performed when the boat is out of the water?

Yes, you can complete the Dockside Wizard while the boat is in or out of the water, but if in the water, it must be stationary.

How is the compass calibrated during initial setup?

Calibrate by keeping the boat steady and flat, following on-screen instructions. If the calibration is unsuccessful or the magnetic quality is low, relocate the CCU and recalibrate.

Should the Dockside Wizard be performed with the boat in or out of the water?

You can perform the Dockside Wizard while the boat is in or out of the water, but always provide clearance for rudder movement during the process.

We only use first-class delivery carriers, like UPS and DHL. There's an "Express Delivery" option for many shipping destinations available.
