Lighter and smaller than a conventional pulley block, low friction rings have become a popular alternative for many applications where traditional blocks once ruled. In addition to being light and less expensive than convectional blocks, low friction rings are also less prone to failure because there are no moving parts.
Instead of rolling on a pulley sheave, the active line slides on the inside smooth surface of the ring. Another line is spliced around the outer groove of the ring to act as an anchor. Ideal for applications with shallow redirection angles and low-to-moderate loads and rope velocities such as barber haulers and spinnaker twings.
Tylaska’s FR series low friction rings are precision machined from 6061 aluminum and hard coat anodized to military type III specifications, maximizing durability and wear resistance. A deep outer grove with high side walls helps to keep the outer line captive.
